  1. I've tried to search for this, but could not find it. So even if this question has been asked before, no flaming plz.

    Just like the subject, does the quality of original AVI file matter when converting to SVCD?

    Say, you have two Xvid movies. One has really good quality, the other one is very grainy. When you convert both to the bitrate of 2520kbps with all other settings the same, will you notice a quality difference?

    Quality of your source definitely matters. Your output file is going to look only as good as your source.

    Generally, when encoding video from one type into another you can only preserve quality, you cannot create it. Some methods are better at keeping quality than others. In short, crap in = crap out.
