  1. i made a backup copy of a divx.avi film and now i want to convert it so that i can play it on a dvd player with dvd quality, also when i converted the file you can faguely see that the resolution goes slightly dark and then lighter again continuously. How can i do this.

    I wouldn't bother unless you divx-ed it at 3000kbps or more. The quality will be shite otherwise.

    What jimmalenko is saying is that no matter how high of a bit rate you use to convert your divx file, it's not going to look any better. If you still want to create a file that can play in your DVD player try the DVD template in TMPGenc.

    Correct me at the point where I am wrong.

    You downloaded a film which has been encoded as a divx avi. You now wish to convert that to a dvd at dvd quality.

    If this is correct, you cannot improve the quality without applying a number of filters, which I think might be beyond your capabilities.

    TMPGEnc can do wonders for you. As TeeGee suggested, try one of the DVD templates and see what it comes out like but I wouldn't hold my breath as I don't think you will be pleased with the output.
