  1. I like to backup my DVD's keeping the main menu and the main movie (also sometimes some of the extras if good).

To do this I use DVD Decryptor and then use DVDShrink. On most movies this works but I have noticed that if the movies have a short film or "Coming Soon" bit before the menu comes up and I remove this short film or advert then the DVD never finds the main menu, the DVD goes into the machine plays a little (i.e. warnings, etc) and then stops when it should go to the menu.

I thought using DVD Decryptor that if you remove things then the DVD is re-mapped so not to look for the removed files but my DVD's seem to look for the file and then stop instead of ignoring it and going to the menu.

For films that go straight to the menu I have no problem as there are no files to remove.

Can anyone help - or suggest a better program. I have read a few guides but you seem to have the choice of movie only or whole DVD, I only want generally the film and the main menu.

Just run direectly through Shrink and tun what you don;t want to stills. WHen playing just hit skip or next to go past all the junk. The other choice is to reauthor and just choose the main movie which what I do for maximum quality.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  3. Clone-DVD does the job. And with AntDVD it's region free.
You have the option to copy with or without menus and goodies.

Doublelayer DVD-9 is recoded to fit a single DVDR.
    Quality is OK.

  4. All I can see in Clone DVD is the option to fit whole movie on one disc and the option to have the main movie on one disc - I cannot see anywhere the option to keep the meu's and only the main movie.

  5. Another option is to replace what you don't want to see with few blank frames. There are few ways to do it, one is explained here: http://menuedit.dimad.net/ht_me_replace_cell.html

Read this guide from the "Guides" section of this very website:
    http://www.polarhome.com:793/~afonic/clonedvd.htm

It explains how to use CloneDVD to backup the main movie and preserve the menus. It works great for me.

Cheers for the assistance - it appears I am using a different version of CloneDVD "CloneDVD Version 2.1".

What version is the one that you posted the link for.
