ogm files, trouble opening, playing and encoding them

I have a problem a have a .ogm file that
1.) will not play past the opening scene but the audio continues to play.
2.) the ogm file will not open in virtualdubmod. It opens the import filter and after it get about to the last quarter or so so the file it get me an error thtat says: Invalid ogm media stream.
3.) what programs do I use to convert .ogm files into avi's or mpegs?

Just a thought but do you have an xvid codec installed? That would account for a couple of your problems if you don't. I only mention this because most of those types of files I have dealt with actually had xvid encoded video with OGG audio within the OGM container.
