i'm making a PAL xvid -> kvcd but i'm not sure whether or not my dvd player can display pal resolution. is it possible to encode at 25 fps but with NTSC resolution? or am i just barking up the wrong tree in the first place?
if i am going down the wrong road...what is my best option, if any?

It's more likely that it supports PAL resolution at PAL framerate or NTSC resolution at NTSC framerate than some odd combination. You can speed down video and audio to 23.976 fps and use NTSC resolution if your player does not support PAL.

I've done this before, albeit by accident. I made a VCD backup of Old School with a 352x240 resolution and 25fps framerate and it played fine on a Magnavox DVD Player.
