A rather basic question:
The target is to replace the video stream of a ripped DVD with a lower bitrate stream that has been re-encoded with an MPEG-2 encoder.
If the DVD is ripped in file mode on the HD in a VIDEO_TS directory,
and the main movie is demuxed into a .m2v file and then re-encoded for smaller size,
is it possible to replace the mpeg-2 video stream in the VOB files with the smaller size .m2v file without affecting the rest of the DVD structure?

The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

the process appears to be straightforward. I will try that with a .m2v re-encoded with an MPEG encoder. The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
