Normally 1 copy a 2 layer dvd with instantcopy to 1 dvd-r. I received a movie which is split over 2 dvd-r. Is it possible to merge the 2 dvd-r and shrink it to 1 dvd-r without loosing the menu's.

yes, you can use dvd shrink to re-author the dvd's. If you have two dvd drives, you simple place both discs into the drives, then select the drive with the first dvd and let shrink analyze the disk. After this, you click on re-author and drag the main movie into the newly opened window. Then, slecet the second drive and let dvd shrink analyze the disk. You then drag the main move to the new window which already has the main movie of the first disk. Now you can shrink & burn. If you do not have two dvd drives, you will need to rip the the hard drive first.
Second option is to use dvd2one version 1.30 and select join. -

The method aleem described would work, but would not allow you to keep any of the menus. -
I asked the same question in this thread. The answer I got is too forget about it. It seems to be a very difficult thing to do.

It's not a difficult thing to do, I've done Dr. Zhivago using the above mentioned method, and it turned out great. I'm also working on Pearl Harbor right now. It's just takes a little time working with DVD Shrink.

Thunder In Paradise, I'd be very curious to know how you managed to backup two DVDs to one DVD-R while conserving their original menus.

Woops, my bad loop. I forgot to put that part in while I was typing the reply. Your right, you can only do this with just the movie.

No worries.

I dont think a menu will be possible.
With DVDShrink 3 Beta 5 ... I did this.
What I've done is include the two Madonna Videos from the 2nd DVD Disk of the 2 Disk set of 007 Die Another Day.
The "making of the Maddona Music Video" plays first ... then the music video ... and then the actual movie ... begins to play.
I used the Wink guide ... Was not that difficult ... but ... no menu
