I had a GoVideo DVD player (actually still have it in the closet), that died. First it had sync problems, then it started make lots of sparatic multi-colored blocks on the screen. These were brand new commercial DVDs. Nothing burned or scratched or anything like that. But for the time that it worked, it was good. It had good vivid color, and was region free.
The model I had was the DVP853. From what I read, it is the exactly the same as the DVP855, except that the 853s went to Radio Shack, I have heard of no problems with the 855. I guess that model was just a bad batch. But it wasn't to much money lost, a very inexpensive player that lasted about a year (a few days past the warenty).
But GoVideo are supposed to have good products, just giving you my experience with the company.
