  1. Ok, so, I have read many posts on this super site about all the things you can do with Toast 6 Ti on a Mac, so I bought it and just burned my first VCD. I put two .mov files onto the disc and it plays fine in my Toshiba dvd settop player, but I cannot play the same disc on my G4 Dual 1g which created the disc! What do I do to make the vcd playable on this Mac, and, what will I need for my wife's pc to play the disc? What software tools, that is...
I tried the DVD Player v.3.2 which came with the Mac (OS X 10.2.3, but it did not work...).
    Thanx v. much,
    Don

    open the app
put the disk in the drive
go to FILE and OPEN DISC
    choose VCD

    push play

  3. Thanx again, G. Is VIDEOLANCLIENT used for Mac (OS9 or 10?) or is it for Win 200 Pro? Or (hopefully, but unlikely) both?
    Thanx,
    Don

  5. Thanx T,
It requires a different download for each platform, doesn't it? I have d/l the one for Mac OS 10, but it would be a different d/l for Windows, wouldn't it? What do you think is the best way to get this app to potential viewers of my vdc's? Should I place a copy of the program, or its installer - both Mac and pc, on the Mac-burned vcd?
    Thanx,
    Don

i would suggest a READ ME offering the various OS's as tgpo points out that the app works on

or something perhaps that says CLICK HERE FIRST, which is a direct link to the download link for the app

    what do you think!?

that and most people should know or have the app to play them
and if not.... READ ME's are always fun

  7. G,
Frankly, I am a little leery of putting a link on the discs because a lot of people I will be giving these discs to have dialup connections (like I do), and to have them have to d/l a 40-minute app like I did is not likely to happen. They'd run when they'd see me coming after this!!!
That's why I am wondering if I could burn the Windows and Mac installer's of the VCD viewers onto the discs I give them. Would this work? They would be burned on the Mac...
    Thanks,
    Don

You SHOULD be able to do this without any problems... The windows version you could just distribute as a .zip or a .exe file, and the Mac as its .pkg file. I remember some old Pink Floyd VCD i bought back in 1993 or 1994 that had a mobie player program on the same disc...

The tricky part would be getting the programs on the disc and have the disc authored as a VCD, if that is what you are aiming for. What I would suggest doing if you cannot figure out how to author it as a VCD with foreign files on the disc (unless you burned two sessions) would be to just burn the MPEG files unauthored as VLC can play those just afine as well.

    Hope this helps.
