I was planning on buying a leadtek deluxe tv tuner. I really need a new video card too. I saw a place that had the 9800 pro on sale for $239 but they also had the All In Wonder 9800 pro on sale for $303. Would it be better to buy the leadtek and the 9800 pro or the AIW 9800 pro. My son has a portable dvd player. I want to be able to record shows and then burn them to a dvdr for him to watch. I do not know which tuner would be best for this. I did notice that the AIW tuner is a 12bit card and I think the leadtek is a 8 bit card. Can someone give me your opinion? Thanks for your time

I am very happy with my ATI AIW Radeon 8500 Card. If you go with the ATI card check the guides on lordsmurfs site. I use MMC 8.7 with lordsmurfs settings and capture directly to mpeg2 with great results. Some of my vhs tapes I backed up had macrovision but the software on his site removed this.

I have a PCTV Pro right now and it sucks! Part of it is the bad drivers. I also noticed that it has the fusion 878A chipset. That is the same chipset as the Leadtek Deluxe. That is not good! What is the difference between the expert and the Deluxe? I know it has a different chipset.

I'm on a tight budget and I picked up an ATI AIW 7500. It took a long time to finally get things working (I need to reinstall windows, and that's probably the only reason why I had so many snags), but now it's working great for me.
While the AIW cards are great, it makes more sense to get two seperate cards. You can pick up a TV Wonder Pro (from ATI) for 70 bucks US (or add another 30 and you get a remote with the package). Add 9800 Pro, and you're only spending $7 more to have two seperate cards. This might work better for you because you have the ability to upgrade each card individually later on, rather than having to replace it all at once.
P.S. If you're only interested in using the TV tuner and not capturing from another video source, you can get the TV Wonder VE for $50, or $60 for the TV Wonder VE with a remote.
