Error on Studio 8 using Avermedia EZMaker when capturing

Hello! I've searched on this forum but could not find an answer to my puzzling issue. I bought the Avermedia because of price and because I read somewhere that Studio 8 recognizes it as a capture device.
I installed the drivers and started S8 and it did see the driver and was able to select it as the capture device. But when I set everything up and start to capture, I get "capture error" on S8. One time, I was able to hear the sound but no video even with video preview set to ON.

I loaded latest S8 update (Version 10) and also latest XP drivers for Avermedia and rebooted but same problem.

Anyone here having "capture errors" or problems using Avermedia with Studio 8?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I don't like the NeoDVD capture software it came with since it doesn't have the features that S8 has during capture like break points and scene detection.

Anyone have issues like this? What do you suggest?

If its any help, I have the same problem. I have worked around it by switching off preview. Capture works but its not v.good.

Not to be mean, but Studio 8 and AVerMedia is double punishment.

Other options for AVI may be Premiere or another NLE, and options for MPEG may be MainConcept 1.4 or others ... TMPGEnc or Womble to edit MPEG ... and then whatever to author/burn.
