    i recentley upgraded to a 3.2 on a gigabyte 7nnxp motherboard
    since then if i try to reencode with dvd to avi i get about 10% done and i get a blue screen shut down reboot
    im at a loss can anyone shed some light on this prob i didnt have it before

    p s my 3.2 is actually running as a 2.5 to see if that was the prob but it still happens

    first this should be in the off topic computer section. Second what is the error on the bsod? did you check the microsoft knowledge base for this error?

    ps i also used dvdx but that blue screend as well

    Did you do a virgin OS install on the new board or did you just drop the drive in?

  5. It could be bad memory, or any other defective hardware as well.

    I supported a Training center with over 100 workstations, and there were machines that were often going Blue Screen. All the PCs had cheapo memory, the machines that were problematic often worked perfectly after putting in new memory. There could be other reasons (hardware, need for OS reinstall, flaky drivers, etc)
