  1. hi, jus a quick question, again i dont know if there is any truth to this but i heard that recording at ur burners top speed, whether cd or dvd rewriter can damage the laser and reduce the life of the dvd writer?

is this bullsh.t or should i start burning at 2x instead of 4x??

    thanks

It's BS. Using a 4x burner at 4x on 4x certified media is fine. Burning 1x media at 2x generally requires a hotter laser and could cause problems.

  3. It's more "misinformed" BS.

If you look at the link I posted earlier, you will see that some Pioneer drives could be damaged out of the box by writing to certain discs before a certain revision of firmware.

So whoever told you that had his / her info deeply rooted in fact in part, but was inaccurate.
