I've been using divx 2.5.2 to watch my avi's (its the free version). I hate how you can't set the speed for the fast forward. I've now got programs like ffdshow, elecard, media player, powerdvd, divx, xvid, and vidlan. I want to get a player that encompasses alot of these other ones. Does anyone have any ideas? I want to get rid of all these players and get one really good player. Is it possible?

  2. Zoom Player is all I use anymore for watching AVIs. Every option you can think of is in the settings. Best of all, it's rather small, and FREE. Try it, what have you got to lose? Last I looked it's still in the tools section.

  4. Well, I suspect you've been to the players section and looked at ratings. Good. Have you read comments also? Maybe you ought to try both players. To restate, you want one player that can do it all without being bloatware? Zoom Player will do. I seem to remember trying BS Player maybe two years ago, has it been out that long? That's a long long time as software goes. Can't say how well the current version works.

Caveat: If you want total control over all settings, Zoom Player will suit you. If you get confused over a bunch of options, pass it up. Let us know what you decided, will you?

I will. I won't have a chance to look at it til next monday becuase I have to work so much and get ready for winter college. I will definitely use it if it's the right one for me. I will be thrilled to get all that space back. I have 66gigs of free space so I really shouldn't worry about it huh. Thanks again. Check back in a couple of days for an update.
