I recently purchased an Ellion DVX-520C an am having problems with the sound output being very low during DVD playback. I have to max up the TV volume to hear anything, then the sound is very hissy. Whats really stange is that MP3's play perfecly ok. I have connected the unit using two methods: with the supplied SCART lead and an AV cable with the same results. I have also tried changing various settings in the setup menu. Can anyone shed any light on this problem, or should I return the unit and get a refund?

    Thanks

Edit: Stupid me I overlooked the volume control on the DVD remote. Seems OK now.

Retail DVD's use ac3 audio which recorded at a low level compared to other audio sources, low volume is normal on DVD's. The fact that mp3's play with a more normal level indicate the unit is probably not defective.
But exchangeing it might help. There are some DVD players that have a menu option to boost the ac3 sound, some Daweoo models have that fature.

is that the "rf remod" feature? I'm not sure what it is intended for but I know when I've had it turned on the dvd volume is much louder.

Thanks for the replies but I dont seem to have any of these options within the setup menus. Whilst I accept that AC3 will be output at a lower volume than other formats, I cannot belive that there would be such a massive difference in volume levels. Anyway I purchased this player from Amazon so I think I will return it and buy a Liteon model as I have seen many good reviews for their products.

    Thanks
