  1. Is there a way to convert a WMV file (created by Windows Movie Maker) to MPG format while keeping the same size and quality please? The reason I need to do that is that many internet browsers do not seem to support WMV and hence the video clips cannot not be viewed.

    Thanks

  2. I think that is a pretty tall order. WMV is highly compressed and consistently provides smaller yet reasonably high quality (given the file size) files, about on par with DivX.

I have used Windows Media Encoder many times to capture Video from VCR / Camcorder and I have never successfully converted a WMV file to MPG without practically a 25-50% increase in size. In addtion, the mere fact that you are converting from 1 format to another will result in a loss of quality.

That said -- give it a try. TMPGenc will work with WMV files (select ALL FILES TYPES *.*) and provides as good or better a result as any other product with regards to video quality.

-- You may need to download and install the WM9 codecs from Microsoft, if you find that TMPGenc does not recognize the encoder/decoder.
