Similar to other topics on the forum, I have to choose a capturing process to save my Hi8 movies of the kids.
First, the dilemma, my dad got me an ADVC1394 as a gift. My setup will not install it, I get the "data is invalid" error described on the Canopus support pages. (tried the fix, still no help, found out I have a problem motherboard)
As a result, I am looking for an alternative due to no support (still got the ADVC1394 in box, likely RMA Monday).
Either an AIW 9600pro or this http://www.govideo.com/Index.asp?GV=R6530 Standalone DVR that fits the pricerange of 200 to 300 US.
Any help welcome.

i can't offer any help with the advc problem but as far as the alternatives you are looking into i would choose the ati all in wonder. i have an older aiw card and it works very well. IMHO you will be have more control over your captured videos with the card than the standalone unit.
just my opinion though.
good luck to ya! -
Thanks for the input, seems now I'm stuck with it as we can't find the invoice.
