From looking at the DVD Player reviews on this website it seems there are dozens of DIVX compatible players on sale in Europe with prices as low as $80.,but here in the U.S. we're stuck with a handfull of overpriced and poorly distributed models.
Why isn't the U.S. getting flooded with DIVX compatible units? We are the largest consumer market in the world.

  2. maybe because the word "divx" scares the retailers in this country?

I agree, the things are even more complicated because a lot of sellers on ebay.de, ebay.com/sp, or ebay.uk do not ship to the US. I am thinking about be-friending someone in Germany or Spain to get a new Mediatek-chipped Elta 8883.
