I just got the Daewood DVD S151 at Sam's for $40. I bought it mainly
because it's region-free and Macrovision free right out of the box.

My question is about the STOP function. Every other DVD player I've seen
will restart from where you stopped if you stop in the middle of a movie.
But it seems the Daewoo starts from the beginning if you hit STOP and
    then PLAY.

Is this correct or is there some setup step I'm missing to override this?

The Daewoo S151 is not macrovision free out of the box and because it uses a Media-Tek chipset there is no way to make macrovision free.
You may be able to record without macrovision effect but when play the tape you will see macrovision at work.

I haven't really tried recording a DVD to VHS. But I'm running the DVD
through the VHS because my second TV doesn't have audio and video
    inputs.

Anyway my question isn't about the Macrovision. It's about why when
I stop a movie and then restart it, the player goes back to the first
instead of starting up from where I stopped.
