  1. So my wife gives me the Panasonic DMR-E80 this Christmas, and I can't wait to set it up! I get it in the entertainment center, start plugging in cables and, lo and behold, the cable cord from the wall is just long enough to reach the tv, but not long enough to reach the Panny, which sits on a shelf right above it!

Is there a simple conector I can buy to link two pieces of cable with male ends together?

    Make my day... SAVE CHRISTMAS!

Radio Shack probably sell such a connector OR buy a longer coax cable.

If it IS the coax cable you are talking about....DONT get those cheap push-on quick-connect crappers....whatever you get make sure it is threaded. And write the numbers down on the cable coming from the cable company...they sometimes use different styles than normally found in packaged stuff at Radio Shack etc etc.

  4. Sounds like accountwiz is talking about "the cable" coming in from the wall. Indeed, there are little "adapters" that you can screw onto the end of cable coming in from the wall, then onto which you can screw another piece of coax cable onto, that will allow such an extension. It's just a little doohickey with threads on both ends, and should be available from the likes of Radio Shack, Best Buy, and so on....

Take the cable to radio shack with you when you go. Makes a long story short.

  6. Most grocery stores will have the parts you need, actually. You do not have to wait till tomorrow. Heck even walmart might be open.

  7. In most fairly new construction in the U.S., there'll be some slack cable in the wall. Back out the screws holding the face plate in place, and pull some out. Might be enough to do the trick temporarily.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!
