  1. Hi,

Has anyone had the problem that I have,

I am using TMPGEnc DVD Author to create a menu for my mpgs which works great, but I create the dvd bigger then a dvd-r and I then want to shink my created dvd using DVD Shrink. My main reason for this is to fit more mpg's on a cd, but once DVD Shrink has loaded the TMPGEnc DVD it crashes out. Does anyone know why this is happening.

    Thanks

    Joolz

My guess is that you're using the 3.0 beta version of shrink. Try using version 2.3 to open the DVD. Then make a backup with no compression. Version 3 will then open the new backup and you can shrink it. (Or you can just use version 2.3 to do the compression too)

Yep ... DVDShrink 3 Beta 5 ... fails to read the VIDEO_TS folder ... TMPGEnc DVD Author creates.

Yep ... DVDShrink 2.3 ... will read sucessfully.

So create a output folder for DVDShrink 2.3 to output to ... and then fire up DVDShrink 3 Beta 5.

You should have no problems ... except for a bunch of VIDEO_TS folders scattered all over your drives ... I have 6 drives.

I usually use the 5% setting in DVDShrink 2.3 for this purpose.

to joolzhaines, alternatively, with the help of BeSweet, you can re-encode the DD audio streams to a lower bitrate. For example if it's 256kb/s now you can convert it to 192kb/s. The requirements are BeSweet, and for best compatibilities the original stream should be PCM *.wav. It's true DVD-Shrink 3b5 reads VIDEO_TS files created by TMPGEnc DVD-Author, then stops and declares errors. It's hard to see which program is at fault: the last stable DVD-Shrink 2.3, as lacywest says, does read them correctly. BUT DVD-Shrink 3b5 DOES read correctly VIDEO_TS files created by DVD-Lab.
For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i".
