I have a bunch of video files which are about 300-400mb each and I want to burn them on a DVD. What program can I use to burn them without recncoding and do minimal(preferably non) changes to the files and still be able to play them on set-top DVD player. The files are AVI files in DIVXMPG4 V3 compression 24 bit 512x384, audio is AC3 192kbps. And AVI files in XVID compression 16 bit 640x368, the audio LAME MP3 encoder(ACM) 127kbps. I don't need anything really fancy or pretty just a simple menu to nevigate through them on the TV and that's it.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

How do you plan to make DivX video into DVD format without re-encoding?
Hello. -
I don't know of any program that will creat menus and allow you to keep the divx format. All DVD authoring programs that allow you to creat menus will need the files in Mpeg 1/2 format.
You could buy a DVD player that reads DVD-data disks and divx (mpeg4). I don't know if they exist, but they might. You then will have to find a program that will create a DVD-data disk with menus. -
Convert them to DVD Compliant Mpg-2 videos and ... DVD Shrink 3 Beta 5 ... is one program ... I know that can do it.
Or ... TMPGEnc DVD Author ... will do it. -
Buy a DivX compatible player, that will let you play about 80% of them.

Good luck. -
converting from mpeg4/divx/xvid to mpeg2 would generally (very rough) give a size inflation of about 4 to dvd-spec and about 2 to svcd/cvd so your small 300mb file becomes a 1200mb dvd file or a 600mb svcd.. it is not worth converting a low-res avi file to a hi-res dvd file as you will not "gain" any quality just a great increase in size. Buya divx capable dvdplayer (£80..$130 e120) no encoding just burn and play

You can encode to MPEG-1 1850kbit/s, 352 x 288 pixels(PAL). It won't be super quality, just a little better then vcd (less artifacts). With this you could be able to fit three movies if they are approx 90 min each. Encoding is rather quick too, faster then real time w/the "slow encoding" TMPEGEnc on my P4 2.2 GHz.
