I've searched (and searched) and haven't been able to find a topic like this that has been answered, so here goes:
I have burned two CDs using NeoDVD's better DVD setting (352x480), one with the default audio (which is MPEG2?) and one with LPCM. Neither one has audio when played back on my Apex, though both have sound when played on the PC. Gspot doesn't seem to like either of them much, as I have to render to get the very limited data it offers, which is to say the MPEG2? audio is MPEG and the LPCM is unrecognizable (the output window in Gspot is empty, almost like there is no sound).
So, am I missing something simple?

Hi dbphillips,
I used neoDVD as well (and already switched to neoDVD Plus that support AC3 sound) - never had problem with either one of them.
I have one question though: how do you know that the "better quality" setting has 352x480 resolution (half D1) ?
If anyone know how to check resolution of a DVD VIDEO_TS folder, pls let me know.ktnwin - PATIENCE -

Baldrick,
Thanks for the reply.
What a coincidence. I just stumbled across a miniDVD reference and did a little looking. I'm almost positive that's what I'm burning, and yes, I burned 2 separate CD-Rs, one with I believe MP2 audio, one with LPCM, and though I saw a message here from an Apex AD1100W user who said he could read them, I get only video and no audio on either disc. On the PC, it's all good.

Okay, dug around on miniDVDs. Looks like it ain't happening. Even on an Apex. Guess I'll send them to family in China to see if the CVD players will read them.
Thanks anyhow,

I must be missing something basic.
I have now installed a DVD burner and burned a DVD+RW disc using Best DVD and LPCM settings in NeoDVD, and still no sound on my standalone players. Again, sound on the PC, and WinDVD even identifies the audio as PCM.
I have a help ticket into Mediostream (who don't seem to be very quick, btw), but maybe someone else has an idea.
Thanks,

Try the disc in another stand alone player. Sounds to me like you need to change the audio track setting in your player in the players setup.

Tried to find a place to change the audio settings in both players (Apex 500WM and 1100W) and there doesn't seem to be one. I tried both miniDVDs in both players, but for some reason, a year or so ago, the 500WM decided it doesn't like CDs at all anymore. It read the DVD+RW, but no sound. I'll try the DVD+RW on the 1100W, but I'm not hopeful.
