From what i have read in the forum its possible to add sounds to a authoured DVD menu with either tmpgen plus or tmpgen authour how do i do it, it would be even better if i could get it to play a small wav/mp3 when a selection is made in the authoured menu!

Not that I've seen. Unless I just missed something, that's not an option in TDA.

  4. I'd say until DVD-Lab 1.4 beta2 is released, probably only the higher end professional authoring tools like Scenarist or Maestro.

When you create the menu, click on the background picture. An explorer box will open, browse for your mpg. This allows you to import a mpv/mpg stream. If the imported file has audio, it will be used for the BGM (Back Ground Music).

You can still have TMPG generate the thumbnails and overlays as usual, only with your mpeg and audio playing in the background. I use Vegas, and/or Ulead Cool 3d to create the motion menus, and Smart sound for the BGMs.

BTW, if your tired of the plain yellow hot spots, you can use IFO Edit, and Menu Edit to change the color layout.
