The DVD Player section of the board is very useful, but it does not list things like the fact that most DixX compatible player cannot be bought in the USA. I spent a lot of time tracking down a Phillips 737 to find that it is not a US player.
Can someone give me a quick list of DivX compatible players that are avaibable in the the US?
Thanks

The Kiss players are (dp450, dp500 etc)
THe Liteons are(lvd2002)
The Yamaha's are
PRISMIQ MediaPlayer is
The AV Industries players are (see forum)
I may not be 100% correct, please correct if im wrong, i know that the kiss liteons and prismiq, and av industries defnitely are -
It would be a lot more helpfull if the player list showed the country of sale.
Europe has dozens of DIVX models while the U.S ha handful of overpriced and poorly distributed models. It maybe a marketing problem here as many people associate DIVX with the short lived format CC tried to sell. -
Go to ebay and do a search. I got a neuston and it has worked fine for me. Got it for $192.
Other options are:
+ Liteon - cheaper (around 120) . I saw it on Amazon
+ Kiss. Overpriced. I think they have a store link in their website.
It really whort it, specially for kids, where you can backup DVD's and let them whatch several movies for hours (not a very good idea, but oh well..) -
The PRISMIQ works fairly well for Divx - it is transcoded on the server PC to high bitrate MPEG1 I have read. It also burps if the divx was coded with a weird codec setting or is corrupt. It also plays xvid, mjpeg, MPEG1, MPEG2, and VOB (with NO 3MBs limitation like many HW players).
They anounced a new model the MediaPlayer/Recorder (MP/R) at CES - looks promising, invades on the Tivo/Replay turf a bit.
Big news is they announced a deal with RealNetworks to play Real content and pay songs.

Here's another (Polaroid brand):

I thought of that too; but I couldn't find any Yamadas divx player for sale in the US either.Originally Posted by absolutic

Yes, and it is so unfair. It is getting ridiculous. For Example, www.ebuyer.com has two sites - american and english. if you select english, you can buy YAMADA 6100 (which everyone praises), if you select american, it is not for sale. And the british site will not deliver to the U.S. I don't believe in conspiracies, but, there must be some explanation that these players are so available in Europe, and not available in the U.S.Originally Posted by spiffy
