  1. Hi,

I'm trying to edit my DV from that I have transferred from my camcoreder in Virtual Dub but when I try and load the file in VD it get the following error message...

"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (Unknown)

Virtual Dub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."

What does this mean? I know it is possible to edit DV on VD because I used to do it on my old pc.

Do I need to install some kind of codec?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thanks,
    Grant

Yes, try the Panasonic DV codec in the tools section of the site. It works for me!
