  1. Hi guys

    I have a small(?) question.

I am having audio sync problems with this SVCD - VCD Trick on my DVD Player (SONY DVP-NS400D). So I was going through different threads to find a solution.

Then I saw this interesting phrase/word "SVCD BOOT DISK" (to make a dvd player recognise SVCDs).

Is there anything like a "SVCD BOOT DISK" to make dvd player recognise SVCD even though they are not capable of reading SVCDs ?

If yes, how to make these Boot Disks ?

Can someone please help me with this ...

    Thank you

Most players don't boot from CD except for very specific BIOS upgrades. You have to make an image with exact parameters. I'd say no for standard players.

    For PS2/XBOX then maybe yes?

  3. Gazorgan...

I was wondering if I can do anything to make my dvd player recognise SVCDs. Then I found that.

Anyway, Thank you very much for the information.

Do you have any clue on how to get rid of the audio sync problem I have when I use the VCD Header trick and play on my Sony dvd player ? (when I play the same cd-r on my computer player, it plays well).

  4. The whole concept of a SVCD "boot disc" is wrong.

If your DVD player doesn't recognise standard SVCDs, then it doesn't recognise SVCDs. Unless there is a firmware upgrade available for your player that fixes this, then there is nothing you can do.

You could always try to use the "header" trick (which means in essence you are making an XVCD but with SVCD style MPEG-2 source files) but if that doesn't work, well, you don't have too many options left.

  5. Try different Audio Bitrates for the MPEG encode. A Lower bitrate fixed the sync problem on my Teac DVD player.

  6. Thank you guys

I got my doubt cleared about the "svcd boot disc" concept.

Now it looks like, the only options I have are... either go for a different DVD Player which supports SVCD format or re-encode my SVCDs to VCD.

And thank you widemouth, I will keep that mind when I re-encode my mpegs.

Thanks again for all that information.
