  1. A known problem has recently surfaced regarding DVD Studio Pro 2 and .m2v files ripped from DVDRs made with stand alone players. These players encode the file at 704x480, which is a LEGAL, standards compliant format. It seems DVD Studio Pro 2 will only import .m2v files at 720x480. This has been reported and discussed on the Apple DVD Studio Forum, but no one has a solution. DVD Studio Pro 1.5 happily imported the 704x480 files, but Version 2 will not. Does anyone know a way to, in essence, ADD 8 pixels to each side of an .m2v file WITHOUT re-encoding the file. I don't want to re-encode the .m2v file just change the size. I can easily use Quicktime or Compressor to reencode as an MPEG2 file and this automatically correct the file size, but I want to avoide that as it causes a loss of quality. I simply want to extract the .m2v from the DVDR, change the size and then import into DVDSP2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You'll probably have to edit the header information in the .m2v file.

I too am disappointed Apple nixed support for the complete DVD spec. As a result, I have both 1.5 and 2.0 installed.

i think on the apple site someone said they changed the header info, and then it would import, but then they had nothing but troubles with it. and the final build was funky.

  4. Thanks for the feedback. So, if I wanted to give it a try, how would one go about changing the header info on the file?

  6. Try to build a new dvd again with FFMepgX and then use Extractor and /or Cinematize to get seperated m2v and mp3 . I had this problem with a legit dvd and this solved it all for me. Only dislike is that it takes forever with FFMpegX and on tv screen is sized smaller.
