  1. Hi Folks, Here is a short story of success coupled with failure and a cry for help. I am converting Hi8 video clips to digital using WinProducer. Then I put them together using MyDVD. Finally with Sony DRU-510A I burn them on a DVD-RW. All work fine. But when I try to form an image on my hard drive using NERO or RecordNow sometimes both programs fail. Sometimes NERO fails and the other one works. Even if the image is formed then I can not copy the image to a DVD-R, the DVD-R is wasted. But if I try to put it on a DVD-RW it works. Has anyone else seen this problem? Help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  3. I shall do it as soon as possible and test the DVD functions. One question: Should I also uninstall packet writing software like InCD?

I had the same problem with RecordNowDX - Nero always worked properly.

After annoying headaches and after having made almost 10 DVD coasters, I uninstaled from my system this piece of crap called "RecordNowDX" and now I only use the great Nero.

  6. Well until now I have spent days on this problem. My experience may help other users. It is not only copying DVDs over images, but there are problems in creating DVD-Rs using SonicMyDVD. This package sometimes freezes after writing a few files on the DVD, just for no apparent reason and of course the DVD-R is wasted. The support db on the site says the program does not like long file names, it does not like mp3s in certain cases and gives advice saying the user has to test the video clips in isolated environment to find the culprit and so on. They have now issued a new version to those with licences. I have tried that and after running for 4 hours it got nowhere and I had to flush it. In fact the DVDs which can not be read by NERO nor by RecordNow also have corrupted files on them placed by MyDVD. I found this out after hours of testing these DVDs.
Consequently, I am really fed up with this story and I have uninstalled MyDVD. I shall probably evaluate and use another package. As to copying DVDs, I shall see whether I can get anywhere with RecordNow.
I shall continue reporting my experience hoping that it may help other users. It is really annoying to say the least to see software that does not work being distributed with DVD hardware produced by well-known manufacturers like Sony.
