After about 25 minutes, my SVCDs begin to skip and freeze when played through my DVD player. I've been using TMPGEnc to encode at high quality setting with the sharpen filter, and have been frameserving from VirtualDub using the de-interlace filter and the sharpen (set to the max 64).

When I play the SVCD with Windows Media Player, the places that skipped and froze play fine, but I then get the message "error reading from the CD ROM," and the program closes.

At first I thought that my going on the internet, etc. while encoding was causing the problem, but my last video was encoded with no other processes running.

My computer is a pentium III 500mHz, Windows 2000

    Thanks.

It's a bad burn. Probably cheap CDR's and burning too fast. Try burning the same thing at 8x, then verify the burn.

An error in the CDROM has nothing to do with your encoding.

I couldn't find a "verify" option on the buring software.

Also, what I don't understand is that I was making SVCDs on the same CDs before without the skipping and stalling. I reinstalled the Nero5 burning software into my 40GB second drive that is faster than my primary hard drive, and hopefully that will help.

Could it be that I should be using a better buring program?
