I'm trying my hand at my first dvd rips to dvd-r.
I have been ripping them onto vcd with dvd decrypter, dvd2avi, & then tmpgenc.
I use Easy CD Creator 5 on the desktop & 6 on the notebook cause it has the dvd burner.
I was reading the guides over here. Started with dvd decrypter, found out it was over 8 gigs so switched to dvd shrink. This is my first use of it.
I'm using my Buffy season 1, disk 1 as a trial. It has 4 eps, took out all of the extras, including different languages & such, & was only able to get it to 63% compression. Decided instead of putting it on 2 disks, I'd try one as a trial & see how the quality was.
Finished it & then brought up easy cd creator 6, which I wish someone would kindly do a guide on, cause I can't find anything about it on the site.
Clicked on the dvd builder, & then add files. When the window pops up with to add files, there are only 9 files there. I read somewhere with the nero help guide, you're supposed to be importing all of the files, but it only allows me the 9 that are showing.
Anyway, highlight them all & push to add them. It then asks me to ok the name of the first file to 1 & it proceeds to do what it calls ripping the title to .vob. After it completes each one, I get a box that pops up that says the video contains audio in ac3 format & is not natively supported by dvd builder & that if I modify the file after it's been added to the project, that part will be replaced with silence. Ok, fine, pressed yes to add it to the file anyway. I do that with all of them, & then when it's done, the size on the bottom says it's over 6 gigs instead of what it was supposed to be, small enought to fit on 1 dvd.
I have tried several times since I got this dvd burner to master this & have given up in frustration every time & gone back to using it as burning to dvd for back-up only. Why is this so hard?

The reason there is no guides on easy cd creator 6 is because not too many people here use it or support it.Try nero 5.5.10.54 to burn the contents of the folder that dvdshrink puts out in to the VIDEO_TS in the dvd video section of nero, just drag the files over and burn, much easier than easy cd and no need to redo any files. If you need more help the author guide to the left will give you more options on nero and other burning apps.
