I've decided to encode each of my shows sepreately that I'm trying to make and I was trying to encode 1 just now and it came up with some kinda read error at around 50% done, it did this last night too, does anyone have any idea why? Could it be because I already encoded it before I edited out the commercials? I just tried to encode the 2nd show and another error came up and it said it cannot be created, it wont even let me do the process
When I go to mpeg settings on tmpeg, i want it to be like 352x480 i believe but its grayed out at 720x480, is there anyway i can change that?
What should my constant bitrate be set to? It's preset at 7999 .
i'm trying to get about 7 or so shows on a dvd, and in the tmpeg dvd author i can almost get 5. i cant figure out what to do to get the extra shows on

What type of files is your source? Are you following a guide? The two links below might help with your error, possible bad frames or environmental settings.

Well, I believe it's MPEG2
I think my main prob is getting all the settings right, for 23 min shows to get as many on as possible, im confused as to what like the aspect ratios and the aver. bitrates and all that are supposed to be and how to keep them that way.. -
Well, pal, it looks like you are at the very beginning stage of this hobby. You have to read a lot, all the Guides in this forum that are relevant to learning how to properly author with TEMPGenc. Apart from doing a lot of reading, you may well expect some trials and errors. Usually it takes some time to get the jist of it.

Yes I'm very new, 4 days into this. I've done a ton of reading on this, every night I'm up til about 7am trying to figure this stuff out. I have read all the guides I can find for what I wanna do, but I can't find any for the exact settings I'd need to make 23 min shows about get about 7 or so on each dvd, which is what i'm trying to do becuase im trying to put 102 onto as few blank dvd's as possible and i think im about at the end stages but getting the exact bitrate settings and all that is all i'm missing and i cant figure out what i need

Anyhow, as my experience tell -- it takes much more than few days.
Yes, I know, you want a certain, specific outcome. Unfortunately (or fortunately) -- this hobby is quite complex. So, look at what's ahead and make up your mind.

Well, I think I've made alot of progress in 4 days, and bascially I tihnk I have alot of it figured out, what I'm doing now is I deleted all the 7 shows I recorded and I'm re-recording them, then I'm going to remove the commercials from each one, then I'm going to encode each show seperately it thru TMPEG PLus and hoepfully this time I might get better results
I think my real only prob now as far as the bitrate is concerned is I notice when I'm about to enocde the show it says it's 720x480 or soething like that I cant think of the exact numbers off the top of my head but I was told to use like 352x480 and i cant fig out how to change that, if i can get just a few of the specifcs on the settings id need i think ill have it down..like for example on the step 4/5 on the tmpeg these are my settings-
movie info- 352x480 29.97 fps
vid. res- 352x480 pixel
aud. vid. bit.- 3500
aud. bit- 224
est. file size- 640.52
and for the format im using NTSC and CBR MPEG-1 Layer ll Audio (MPG2)
Do those settings sound right?
Is there anything I should adjust in this step or any of the other 5 steps in tmpg before I encode?
Remember I'm trying to get about 7 or 8 or even 9 if possible 23 min or so shows onto a blank dvd
I was messing around with the TMPG DVD Author last night and I just missed getting 6 shows on by like a few hundred numbers so I know that I'm just barely missing something important, hopefully someone can help me fig out what it is lol -

well i dl'ed them and windows cannot open any of the 3, not to sound stupid, but what exactlare templates and how would they of helped me? i also tried the calculator and i cant figure it out, in the section it says video length should i put 23 min or something like that since each show runs about 23 min?
-
well i just opened the calculator and i put the video for 23 min and audio for 224 and it came up -229 kbit/s dvd max bitrate 9570 does that sound right?
Where do i type these settings in on the tmpeg? -
In TMPGEnc are you using the project wizard? It pops up when you first open the program and the first screen is where you decide which type of file you want create by selecting a VCD/SVCD/DVD template. If you d/l the CVD templates then put them into the template subdirectory of TMGEnc and the next time you start the program your CVD templates will be there for you to select. The 4th screen of the wizard also is a bitrate calculator, select your media (DVD?) and adjust the video bitrate for whatever percentage of the disk your file should be.
