Last I knew Khypers were horrible CMCs, unless something has changed I wouldn't suggest them for ANY writers out there.

  3. Oh! Well my friend has already bought them and has both + and - , so which should I take?

    What does CMC mean?

  4. CMC (Magnetics) are a "generic" manufacturer of recordable media - they make media for a lot of the high street outlets and cheap rebranders, for example.

The quality of CMC is variable to say the least, and is not considered as being the most widely compatible media available. A lot of people try to avoid CMC manufactired discs due to poor experience.

  5. I picked up 2 ten packs of these because they were free after mail in rebate. I have burned 2 movies and have not had any problems yet. I am burning with an ASUS 402p/d burner and playing in my Panasonic s35. I would recommend the "-" as they seem to be more compatible with home players.

  6. Khypermedia are bottom of the barrel cd/dvd. Alot of people aren't getting their rebates. Why not just buy online from a store that knows what media works with your writer?

If your have burned several -R CMCs without problems I suggest checking to make sure it was a full DVD, problems with them do not start until the end.

If it is indeed a full DVD then check the bottom, is it as dark as a Ritek G03 or lighter? WE have used a couple of CMCs that wree darker and worked much better but personally its not worth the chance... sorry I don't have the media code of them (it was different from the others) but I know I posted it on the forum somewhere.

  9. I have a pioneer dvr-a06u and have used khypermedia dvd -r and +r. So far I have used 10 - discs and 8 + discs. I have used both types of discs to burn movies and playstation 2 games. The differences I have found with the discs is 1) the write speed of the +r disc is 2.4x while the -r is 2x
    2) the +r movie backup has been less compatible with more home dvd players, but will play in my older playstation 2 but not newer models
    3) the +r game backup seems to read better on the ps2

So far, out of over 200 discs, I have not burned one bad disc yet and I use the cheapest media that I can find (CompUSA brand, Kyhypermedia, and two verbatim discs that came with the burner) I am using windows xp, pioneer DVR-A06U in a buslink usb 2.0 enclosure, and Nero ver. 5.5.10.32 so far this burner has been working perfectly for me and hopefully it stays that way

  10. Khypermedia DVDR and Pioneer 106 - will they work together?

I have used the +rw and nothing else for about 2 months.
$12.00 for a ten pack at micro center. not a single problem.
i have also used a couple of the rw more than five times.
    4 ten packs and counting!

The CMC + seem to be better than the CMC -

But both are trash in the overall big picture.

  12. I only have experience with the "-" but if they are CMC they are horrible. Any data over 3 Gig will have problems. I have a 25 spindle of K-Media with the TDK media code and they are much better. The best way to test your burnt media is with the Speed Test in DVDInfoPro or Nero. You will defiantly see speed issues above 3G and probably read errors as well. The way things are with DVD media these days I always test a DVD from the middle of a new batch. If there are any read problems I would send the whole batch back.
