  1. Hi i am pretty fluant with my DVDshrink.

The thing is i have LOTR the fellowship of the ring special edition.

There are two CDS How would i gel them to gether to fit on ONE DVDR.
Of course i will be getting rid of all the crap like extra menus etc etc.
Would it do it justice? fitting it on ONE DVDR?

    Thank you.

    I have accomplished that exact task;

I ripped both discs in their entirety to my HD in folders called Disc1 and Disc2.
I used DVDShrink > Open Files to open the first disc. Open a re-author window. Drag Main movie to re-author window. In main window, open files again and open Disc2. Drag main movie to reauthor window below the first disc's title. I would recommend getting rid of all but 1 audio and doing deep analysis so that you still get decent quality. There may be a slight pause in playback switching from title 1 to title 2 but it is the same as the layer break on a DVD9.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. My sequence for flip DVD or 2 discs DVD sets.

I run DVD Decryptor, ripping both sides movie only to 2 seperate folders ( disc1 and disc 2).
I then run IFO edit on both sets to strip out all, leaving only AC3 and the video stream. I resave them to DISC1IFO and DISC2IFO folders respectivley.

From there I rename the 2nd set of VTS files on DISC2IFO to VTS_01_5.VOB, 6, 7 .. ect..

I then move all the renamed VOBs to the DISC1IFO folder.

I now have 7 to 8 VOB files.
    I open up number 4 or 5 ( the last VOB file in DISC1IFO ) in DVD2AVI
I framserve it and it only, the purpose here is to elminate the blank space that is usually at the end of the first disc in a 2 disc set so when I later framserve the entire set there is no blank spot.

I processing the d2v file through TMPEGEnc and load up the DVD Template and set it to 100% on CQ. I render only the video stream.

I then merge the m2v file with the small ac3 file. I rename the mpeg file back to VTS_01_04.VOB, replacing it with the existing one in DISC1IFO folder.

Now I run DVD2AVI again and this time load up all 8 vob files
I then frameserve ( and I end up with one big demuxed ac3 file so no merging of the ac3 files is needed ).

I then load up the D2V file in TMPEGEnc and this time I load up the KDVD template ( from KVCD.NET ) and leave all the settings alone ( though you can set it up to 78 in CQ ). After the M2V file is rendered I merge with the AC3 file and it's off to TMPEGEnc Author it goes for authoring.

You'll find the results are very good ( better than DVD shrink and other prorgrams that have a tough time with really long movies )

Another method is similar to the one mikerios has suggested. I would alter it slightly though.

    1. Rip both discs to HD in separate folders - only rip VTS_01_n.VOB files or whatever the main movie VOBS are though. You do not need any other files so don't bother ripping them.
    2. Rename disc1 VOBS to VTS_01_00n.VOB (ie VTS_01_1.VOB becomes VTS_01_001.VOB).
    3. Rename disc2 VOBS to the next number in the series following on from disc1 (If the last VOB in disc1 is VTS_01_005, then rename the first one in disc2 to VTS_01_006).
    4. Copy the VOB Files in disc2 to disc1 folder.
    5. Use VOBEdit to open VTS_01_001.VOB. Join the series of VOBs together (this will give you VTS_01_1.VOB onwards).
    6. Use IFOEdit to Create VIDEO_TS and VTS_01 IFO and BUP Files. Now you will have the entire movie joined as one titleset.
    7. Use DVDShrink to shrink this to fit on one DVDR.
    If in doubt, Google it.

You might want to look at DVD2ONE,it's join function makes the transition from disks much faster.

I have done several DVD18's with DVDShrink. Yes, there are a few true DVD18's out there. Let's say that shrinking 3+hours down to a DVDR isn't a great idea. It works, but re-encoding to 1/2D1 works much much better. I'd rather be artifact free at a slighly lower resolution than hi-res with macro-blocks (kinda like 1 disk DivX movies :P )
