  1. I'm definitely a newbie and I think I may be in over my depth. I've read around this site and alot of what I'm reading is greek to me.
    I need help.
I'm using Video Explosion to edit home video, then MyDVD to put on a DVD. I learned quickly if not expensively that Memorex DVD-R's don't work, I also learned that there are two different types of DVD's out there, more expense.
I've found good results with Sony DVD-R's for the most part. On some of my discs the video in the outer portions of the disc get choppy to the point that they won't play at all on my GE 3 disc DVD player, yet play just fine in my bargain basement APEX.
    Here's the question..
I know that not all DVD players will play DVD-R's. Is it normal that my GE player will play some of the video and get choppy toward the end? Could it be that there is some sort of formatting or alignment problem with my DVD writer that is causing the problem?

The apex just plays better due to reading the disc better at spots which tend to be burned a little weak.Try different quality brand blanks to see if you get better results.

  3. Thanks for the reply, so far I've had my best success with Sony blanks which I thought were pretty good, do you have any suggestions?

  6. OK, new question, I can write DVD to hard drive using MyDVD, I've just figured out how to write those files to CD using DVDClone, the result is much quicker because I don't have to go through that transcoding process for each copy I want to make. DVDClone allows me to manually control the speed. I'm using 4x discs. If I knock my write speed back to 2x will I get a more accurate write? or is my thinking wrong here?
