Hello all,
I just want to thank everyone in advance for all the help that I"ll hopefully get.
Here's my problem, I am converting and burning a couple of Avi files to DVD format(one at a time) using ConvertXtoDVD and once the conversion is done the video is choppy when there is alot of action or a pan from side to side. The audio is fine. The original video plays just fine on my PC using WM11 and Nero Showtime. I have also tried to just convert the file without burning and the resulting converted video is choppy when played on my PC using the same players.
I've done alot of searching and I'm getting frustrated because I can't seem to figure it out. I know that it probably has something to do with the frame rate but I'm not sure how to fix this.
I know that quite a while ago I was also using DGpulldown but I'm not sure why I was using it or if I was using it for another reason, it's been over a year since I last used that program.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!
thanks

Which version of ConvertX are you using ? The old version produced results like this because it duplicated frames to get up to 29.970 fps. Version onwards should be using pulldown to do it, so the effect should be less pronounced.
I would suggest FAVC, which uses a better encoder than ConvertX (which of course will take much longer on your hardware), and does use DGPulldown to achieve the correct framerate.
Of course, the best solution is to encode PAL as PAL and NTSC as NTSC, and use appropriate hardware to make it all work. Cheap Chinese players will play both PAL and NTSC natively and take away most of the heartache.Read my blog here.

Thanks for the replies,
I'm using ConvertxtoDVD version 2.0.12 I will give FAVC a try and hopefully that'll help.
I'll let you know if it works or not.
Thanks againcarbfrze

It's probably the PAL>NTSC conversion, but I would also check the bitrate of the converted file. Extremely high bitrates or extremely low bitrates can also cause playback problems, though ConvertX usually makes good choices in setting bitrates. But it never hurts to check. MediaInfo or Gspot are handy for this.
I'm thinking bitrates below 2000Kbps or above 9500Kbps.
