  1. Is it possible to capture directly from my dvd-rom drive
(i have a tv-card), because from the dvd player the quality isnt very well.

At the moment i use DVDx and TMPGEnc which takes 20 hours
    (P2 400 MHz 64 MB RAM)

Is there any faster way for me (like capturing) to copy DVDs?

    Please post your answers

yes - this would be RIPPING from a DVD, see the "DVD RIP" section to your left.

This is where your time is, time will go down significantly with faster processor & more RAM. Nothing aside from that will have a GREAT impact. Using TMPG, be warn about using the "noise reduction" selection under Settings->Advanced, this adds significant time as well.

When you use DVDx, try putting the settings at best quality, this will ofcourse take more time but should improve quality a lot. If you are planning on working with digital video, you should really get a faster machine. I use a overclocked P3-800 (running at 880) with 512 MB RAM and it still takes about 18 hours to convert a DVD at max quality.
