Xp has no native read support for UFD 2.5 as listed by the wikipedia ... which is why when you use windows explorer to view the contents of such discs nothing is shown ... vista and up include native support for UDF 2.5.

The utility linked by fritzi93 should solve that particular issue.

  4. Hi ... Okay , I downloaded that zip file and open it with Winrar but I don't have the option with Winrar to install once I right click on .inf extention . So now what to do ? I try double clicking on it but I didn't notice anything getting install after I rebooted . I did see it say something about Toshiba driver but I am still at the same problem as from the beginning ...

Extract all the files to a folder on your hard drive then right click on the inf file in that folder.

Wow Thanks for your posting this problem as I am having the exact same problem.
I brought a new 3D LCD TV last week, and I wanted to copy some Blueray disks to use on it. So I went to the local swap meet and brought a new LG BH14NS40 for seventy dollars, took it home plug it in to my Windows XP service Pack 3 operating system, and it could see CD'S OK, then DVD'S OK, but as soon as I put in a Blue Ray Disk the computer thought it was a CD disk and gave me a blank screen.
So I took it straight back and swapped it over with another unit., got home and same problem. I then rang LG Service line and they could not help me at all.
So there I was in a HOLE!!! swearing away at this disk drive.
The I googled the problem and your mesage came up, so I downloaded the UDFReader and loaded it, then reboot and WAM!!! IT NOW WORKES.
So why don't LG bundle this software with the drive and save us all a lot of trouble.
So again thank you for your posting................

Aussy777 - I'm glad you got helped, but please don't post "thanks" just because you got helped. If everybody that, some of our threads would have hundreds of posts that said "thanks". We're glad to help, but we don't need a post from you if you got helped.

For unknown reasons Microsoft decided not to officially support the UDF versions above 2.00 in XP. This is why XP systems need to install UDFReader or they will have problems playing BluRay discs. BluRay uses UDF version 2.50. Vista and above support UDF 2.50. Perhaps Microsoft left out official support to try to encourage people to upgrade from XP.
