i found the tmpeg 2.5 plus and i was wondering can i just use the trail and get all the features of it or do i have to buy the whole thing to get all the features?

Another alternative is CINEMA CRAFT ENCODER ... I'm talking about CCE BASIC which is about the same price as TMPGEnc Plus but is a much faster MPEG-2 encoder. However to fully utilize CCE you need to either use AviSynth AVS scripting and/or frameserve from VirtualDub. TMPG Plus won't work at all after the trial period, not even for MP1. all you get is a screen prompting you to register and if you skip it the whole program closes. I think there is a free version of it now for continued MP1 support. also one drawback on CCE trial version is the logo it puts on your encodings.
