  1. OK, I've got 2 cue/bin files of approx 700Mb each. Now I can easily burn them straight to CD (they're films). But what I want to know is can I convert them to DVD instead and will it actually make a difference to the video quality or is it a waste of time.

I'm guessing I could use VCDGear to convert the BIN image to MPEG then use TMPGEnc or something?

Thats the way I do it. VCDGear into MPG, Then use TMPGenc to encode it into a DVD Mpg then use TMPG DVD Author to create the DVD, seams like hard work but it works for me, and no more getting up half way through a film to change the sodding disc.

  3. Will it actually improve the quality though?

Because the BIN comes from a vcd so doesn't that limit the quality of the film, so if I convert it to DVD won't it just be the 2 VCD quality films put on a DVD at the same quality?

Basically yes. If you have a bad copy you won't get a good DVD. Your DVD will only be as good as the original file - you can tweak it a little through TMPG but you can't get a poor file into an excellent DVD.

You wont need to re-encode the files if they are mpg1,vcd are already dvd compliant, just go straight to your dvd author program, the only thing it needs to do then is convert the audio from 44khz to 48khz.
