  1. well yea i wanna know how would this be of effect
    i mean i'm makin some episodes of smallville on dvds the files r either divx or mpg files all in dvd rip quality rahte tv rip lol
    so is there a way to figure out weather the source is intelaced or not and even if i know how can i base my choice of the output weather it should be interlaced or not iread generally the output should be but what effect and measure r we talkin here

    any help appreciated

  2. If you are targeting DVD (or SVCD) and the source is interlaced, encode to interlaced. Same applies if the the source is progressive, encode progressive. Switching from one to the other is a sure fire way of generating problems.

    How to find out if the source is interlaced?

    If it is Mpeg, the free version of Bitrate Viewer will do for this. If it is an avi, its probably divx (or xvid). The very latest version of divx do support interlaced encoding but the chances are it will be progressive. If you are not sure about this , I think DVD2Avi will tell you. (It will open avi's)
