driver for 5.25 usb2.0 external enclosure

I`ve just bought a 5.25 external encosure.I`ve put a samsung dvd rom in.
connected it to a 4 port usb2 pci card.....sometimes it recognises it and sometimes not..........when it is recognised the dvd is all jumpy (stopping and starting) On the instructions that came with it ..it says it will run on Win ME but only supplies the driver for Win 98SE....The make and model of the enclosure is Monday Pro Star P550U.............
Can somebody please shed some light as to what the hell as gone wrong and how to rectify the problem............or even where to download the driver for win ME.

I know this probrably does not help you but dump winME ASAP and upgrade to XP. I would not be at all surprised if the problems you were encountering were ME related.

And post your problem in 1 thread only.

My exp has been that most win 98 drivers work in win me. After alot of problems with winme and reading some tech posts, I have gone back to win98se which is claimed to be more stable. XP does seem to be the recommended choise.

ON SUBJECT, had a usb 1.1 box with no driver disk, when w98se tried to install, I let it search for file hoping it would be generic) , it showed a specific file name. I then did a web search for that and was able to locate the file, download and it worked. Originally it had been installed in a winme system but the orig. disk drivers only went to win98
