  1. I just got finished watching the 4 hours of greatness that is the extended lotr box set. Man i have to say it rocks. Its even better then the extended dvd set of the first movie, alot of real plot scenes added in, little bits of info to fill any holes there might have been. Im still impressed by the soundtrack as well so i had to go out and buy it, it really does the trick. What do you all think? If you say lotr sucks then ill have to kill you LOL j/k but serisouly, better/worse then the first?

Of the two extended editons I think the Two towers in the best. Don't get the wrong they are both good, but the changes in that one make the entire movie feel so much more... whole.

I actually liked the first movie better than the second.

I'm going with a group of friends to see the third on the 17th at 12:01am.....it's gonna be interesting

  6. Lord of the Rings

Only ever seen the first one (once) but that was enough to turn me off seeing the rest. Maybe if a group of my friends is going to see it I might go along.

Finals week...wont be able to see it

If it stays true to the book, the third one should be the best.

  8. I still see people saying "no spoilers!" which is really pointless because if it stays true to the books, what the f*ck are you worried about spoilers for? (unless you havent read the book) Besides added dialogue and, oh yea, the visuals, what's there to be spoiled?

  9. Dramatic tension is more sustained in the Two Towers, so perhaps it benefits more from the extra footage. Still, I like the first movie slightly better. The interludes in Rivendell and Lothlorien do little to propel the movie forward, but they impart more of the sense of wonder in the books. JMHO. Great movies.

  10. Because the books were almost a religion to me, I had a hard time with the movies. but I have seen them many times now. I like the first movie much better. It captures more of the feeling from the books and although it deviates, I do not have much of a problem (anymore) with how it does it. The extended version of the first movie IMO was only slightly better than the theater version (a little more character development). I had a very hard time watching the theatrical version of the two towers. When they changed the very essence of faramir I almost walked out (which would have looked bad since at the time I was dressed as Aragorn). Now I have seen the extended version and I must say it is a huge improvement on the theatrical version. I can watch it now without much discomfort. But why the hell did they put certain scenes in, like legolas flinging himself up on the horse, which obviously looks fake? not necessary.
However, I must say overall I am very pleased with the overall quality of the work and dedication to the story. It would be hard to make everyone happy. I'll be seeing ROTK at 11:58!

  11. I bought the extended 5 disc version which had the extra gollum dvd and gollum statue £40.00. A bit pricey but if I enjoy all the extra scenes and extra dvds as well as the fellowship of the ring ( extended version ) it will be money well spent . I have only just watched the two towers dvds and enjoyed them greatly , still to watch the extra's yet I'm looking forward to the return of the king when it hits the cinema's.
