capture software for my canopus advc100??

what is the best DV capture software to use with my canopus advc 100, i am currently using WINDV but i would like a bit more control of contrast, brightness etc!! so does anyone know of a good one???

That's about as good as it gets. You process DV after transfer to your HD. Virtualdub can do what you want with a DV file after transfer, with a DV codec installed. No capture involved-just transfer.

thanks for the pointer, now ive downloaded it and how do i transfer it into virualdub????

when i try to load an AVI file (a file captured using the canopus) i get the following error message

"couldnt locate decompressor for format "dvsd"(unknown) virtualdub requires a VFW video for windows compatible codec to decompress video direct show codecs are not suitable

is this because i have not installed the canopus dv codec properly

Try using DVIO as your capture program. I suggest you try this program because not only is it FREEWARE but many people say it works great. I never used it because I don't do DV catpure but it seems to work well from what people say.

Another reason to use it is that it let's you specify if you want to capture DV type 1 or DV type 2 and it is DV type 2 (not 100% but I think it is type 2) that works with VirtualDub whereas the other method (type 1) does not load into VirtualDub.
