  1. Hi there guys, I have been using smartripper, tmpegenc and dvdx to rip dvds with no hassles. However recently i installed and aspi driver on my pc and since then i have been having endless problems. I rip the dvd to my hdd with smartripper (even tried dvd decrypter). I then open the vobs is dxdx or tmpegenc and when it encodes......the picture starts flickering from a good quality view to fuzzy almost every 2 ot 3 seconds. I have a feeling that it has something to do with the aspi layer. I have tried removing the aspi layer and re-installing (tried various types of aspi layers). I am running windows xp by the way. My last resort was doing a repair on windows and that didnt even work. I have tried vstrip superdvdripper and a whole lot of other apps and all have the same outcome.........i am losing hope here......Also when i load the vobs in dvdx and then use the scroll bar to go to specific parts of the movie......the fuzzy glare is prominent there.......its like wavey lines every 2 secs......Does anybody have any ideas?.....please

I've never been able to achieve good results when making an MPEG2 from pre-ripped VOB's on my HD. However, when I allowed DVDx to rip from the DVD to the HD, and chose a high frame rate, the quality was good and I had no flickers.

It takes a while to do since it converts each frame individually. But if u desire a good quality MPEG2, that's how I suggest you do it. Good Luck.
