I tried to back up a copy of X-men 2 with DVDShrink and when I played it from my hard drive PowerDVD tells me it's a region mismatch code or it's not formated for my region. I made it region free with IFOEdit and it didn't work still. So I went in a set the first play to the main menu and I noticed that there were a lot of first play entries that were setting different values. I would guess it's some new way to prevent copying but
I don't know for sure. Anyone got any ideas?

There is a guide on this site to fix your problem here. You can use Ifo Region Free

I just made a back-up copy of X-Men 2, using DVD Decrypter to rip, DVD Shrink to compress, Image Tool to create the .iso file, then DVD Decrypter to burn to DVD. Worked great. These are the same tools I use to back-up all my DVDs.

Check all the IFO files for region coding, not just say the first one (like some rippers do).
My Region 1 version of The Transporter, for example, has region coding in two if the tilesets, IIRC. Only one was captured by the ripper, the other was found by loading the affected IFO into IFOedit. -
