  1. Dear people

I am nearly there in learning to transfer an avi-file to a dvd-r. The last thing I wanted to ask you is how I can get a better quality. When I watch the original AVI on my computer, the quality is good. When I have converted it to mpeg with TMPGENC it's a bit noisy, even if I use noise reduction or other quality-improving filters.

I think, if a normal DvD is also Mpeg-2 why is an Mpeg-2 converted from AVI so bad?

    Thanx for your replies!

If done correctly the quality will be exactly the same (or possible a tad better, but just a few % poinits worth at best).

So, something isn't being converted right. Typically the quality of the source file is poor, you just can't tell. And how do you know the conversion is bad? You can only tell on your TV, not your computer. You computer doesn't disply a DVD the way your TV does, so it always looks different.

Specifications on the troublesome AVI file? Size? Movie Length? Resolution? Waht did you try and convert it to? Converted bitrate?

  3. Hey there

    THanKS for the Reply!!

When I saw the difference between the quality of the movies viewed on my computer, I thought the quality also would be seen on TV. Plus the fact that when I play a DvD on my computer the quality is much better than the converted Mpeg2 we are talking about.

Or is it really so that the quality may look less than the original AVI, but actually is much better when you view it on TV?

If the quality is indeed BAD, I hope someone can tell me a possible sollution.

    Thanx for yer attention!
