  1. I've searched the net, followed links from here...

I can't find anywhere that will ship gold writable surfaced DVD-Rs to the UK. I've also tried to look up what brands have gold writable surfaces, Optodisc, Mitsui, ESBuy Golds? Still waiting on answers though, can anyone here point me in the right direction?

  2. Can you get gold dye DVD-R's ? I've never seen them.

You might find DVD-R's where the reflective layer is gold, but after the dye has been applied I doubt the recording side will remain that colour.

Unless someone can catagorically prove me otherwise, I think you are wasting your time at the moment.

Now "gold" coloured CD-R's I can help you with...

  3. Maybe dye was the wrong word to use. But I know there are some Optodiscs with a 'gold writable surface' just never seen the pics to show just how gold they look, and I've never seen anywhere I can get hold of them in the UK, or that ships to the UK.

As for the other brand names, I'm not sure at all about their writable surface colour. I know there are gold CD-Rs, anyone know about gold DVD-Rs?

  6. This Link has 'with gold writable surface' Optodiscs. So either they're lying or LanEvo7 is. Don't know if they ship abroad, but minimum order is 50, half of that is way too much but I'd go for that.

No one tried these? No one had any other gold DVD-Rs?

  7. I think you will find they refer to the bit YOU write on - ie with your permanent marker - as being the gold writable surface.

It's a bit arse about face if that's what they're doing, convention states the writable side is the side that gets the data burnt onto it, but there you go.

Maybe someone who has bought these discs can confirm ?

Those are the exact same discs I linked you to, but from a different store. If you don't believe me, buy a pack and see for yourself.

Mitsui used to make gold DVD-R discs, but I don't see them around any more - only silver ones. They still make gold CD-R however.

  10. LanEvo7, I stand corrected.

Mitsui ever have gold recordable surface, or are different coloured DVDRs not around yet like CDRs?

(Curse-ed 'writable surface' arse about face propaganda...)
