    Howdy All,

    I'm kinda new at the whole VCD or SVCD thing so I've searched through the archives for help on my topic but couldn't find the exact process I'm looking for, so here it is. I've used DVDShrink and Nero 6 on my DVD's so I can burn backups of them, but after reading about the VCD/SVCD thing I'm thinking it would be cheaper to burn them to CD's instead of DVD's. I was wondering if there is a way to convert the existing folders of VOB files that DVDShrink has created or do I have to start from scratch on all the DVD's I've already done or will a program like DVD2VCD/SVCD do this for me?? A guide or direction on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Max

    DVD2SVCD is pretty good! You still need TMPG or CCE. It pretty much is insert DVD and spit out bin/cue files to burn. You can set how many CD's you want for the final output. You can also tweak it to do xSVCD.

    Of course you are looking at 4-10 hours instead of the 20 minutes DVDShrink takes.

  3. Its not that much cheaper.

    I can backup a movie to DVD for just over $1, 2-3CDs cost me like 60 cents, and the DVD is faster and easier, most of the time. So for me the time saving and compatibility advantages of burning to DVD is worth 40 cents.
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author

  4. An easier way is

    DvdDecryptor -> DvdX 22 -> Nero (burn)

    if you already have vob files (along with the ifo's), just go straight to the DxdX bit.
