    hi,
im using ricohjpnr01 tdk branded dvd+r's , the disc writes fine without errors but is unreadable by drives and standalone.... never had any problems with -r's , good and cheap branded ones at that.... my burner is an asus drw402p/d....aka pioneer a106.firm 1.5
i do not notice any defects on the disk such as layers not glued properly and excess glue on the outside of the dvd...the smell of the dye is intoxicating though...
on the write side of the disk i notice a small ring about .5mm [1/32"] then a slight pause and the rest of the disc is consistently written
it pisses me off cause i got a nice new 15 pak wich is now an 8 pak because ive made that many coasters!!!!. ive written the disks with clonedvd , nero 5.5something , and dvddecryper in iso mode....2X and 4X
any suggestions are appreciated and i appologise if this has ever been mentioned on the fourm

  2. Have you burned successfully with this burner before? When I had those symptoms- a line you could see on the disk that the burner skipped over- NEC replaced the burner for free. One tech said either the laser movement was dirty or something physically was wrong with the laser movement mechanism. In my instance the line was in the exact same spot every time. The problem went away with the new burner, so it wasn't disk related in my situation...

  3. Update your firmware to ASUS's 1.07

Update your "Nero 5.5something" to 5.5.10.54 or 6.3.0.0.

    thanks for the replies ,
i write dvd-rs fine ...., i actually got one dvd+r to work , a generic one probably longten......001, but none from this spindle, as for the firmware ... i have succesfully upgraded firmwares from previous drives and recorders , but i dont know if i should take that chance and nero 5.5.10.28 records -r disks without any problems
    merry christmas
